Cybercriminals have made real estate transactions the target of their financial aspirations and your funds are their biggest desire. In 2024 alone, real estate cyber criminals stole funds to the tune of a staggering $446 million!

The most common way they accomplish this theft is through compromising business email chains or spoofing business emails. They can gain access through any email provider and through any party to the transaction. Here are ways you can help us combat these predators:

1. Install and maintain malware and email virus protection on any device where you will access emails that pertain to your personal financial matters.

2. Protect your passwords and change them if you suspect any strange activity. Never use the same password for your financial institutions as you use for other websites or apps.
